Hursley Park II (A) - 17 July 2010
Won by 90 Runs

Idlers continued to impress with an excellent win away to Hursley Park 2nd XI. Idlers won an important toss on what appeared to be a very decent track, and the skipper had no hesitation in batting first. The Idlers openers got off to a steady start with J.Cranch in particular looking in fine form. After the loss of an early wicket Cranch was joined by A.Harms and they went about constructing a meaningful partnership. The scoring rate was steady in the early stages of the innings but Cranch soon accelerated playing the riskier of the two innings, finally holding out to long off for a very well played 70. Not allowing the Hursley Park bowlers settle new batsmen G.Shepherd (66) and Harms (68) went about laying the foundations for a potentially good score. They frustrated the bowlers and fielders with a mixture of big hitting and hard running. In the last 20 overs of the innings the Idlers middle order scored 170 runs with both C.Warde and J.Mcilliop playing very well with the later hitting a huge six over the adjacent pitches pavilion! The Idlers innings finished on 273/5 from their allotted overs. After a good tea and a catch up with the Open golf, the Idlers took to the field. As has happened so often this season the opening duo of N.Lawrence (2/27) and M.Clements (2/34) got the away team off to an excellent start, with both striking early to put the pressure firmly on the home side. Hursley Park failed to put together any decent partnerships with only G.Storey (48) offering any real resistance. A good all round performance from the Idlers in the field never allowed the incoming batsmen to settle which created 2 well taken run outs. 4 additional bowlers were used, each collecting one wicket apiece and the game was finally ended in the last over with Warde taking the last wicket of the Hursley Park team as they were bowled out for 183.
