Littleton and West Hill (H) - 19 May 2007
Won by 143 Runs

In a rain-affected game at Harnham, the Idlers took 23 points following a match-winning bowling performance from Nick Lawrence.
Batting first on a soggy wicket the Idlers lost 3 early wickets for 47 runs before the first spell of rain brought players off the pitch to huddle under the pavilion. On a day when the bowlers had the better of it, Littleton opening bowlers Baker (3-44) and Dibben (2-44) removed half of the team but a spirited 25 from Ben Impey and other low double-figure scores helped the scoreboard tick over. The Idlers batted as if the heavens were going to open again any minute and concern about a stagnant run-rate lead to several cheap dismissals. An explosive innnings from Alex Ince (37) added valuable runs before a mix-up and the resulting run out abruptly ended his time at the crease. At the death Rawle Beckles smashed an additional 21 runs to leave a total of 185. Louth and Bird also bagged a brace of wickets each.

After some calculations the rain-affected target for Littleton was 129 off 24 overs and the Idlers knew that they'd have to be at their best to beat a team who just a fortnight ago racked up the massive total of 345-1!

Once again, as so often in their young club's history, Nick Lawrence started things nigh-on perfectly. A wicket with his second ball, a gloved catch to George Shepherd at first slip, fired the home side up and sent a warning to their opponents. Lawrence struck twice again in his next over to leave Littleton on 7-3 wishing the rain had never stopped.

At the other end, Beckles was proving just as tricky to get away and was rewarded with a wicket when Ince pouched a reflex catch whilst under the helmet at short leg. Beckles' consistency resulted in the superb figures of 7-3-11-3. Whilst Beckles made runs very hard to come by, the buoyant Lawrence continued removing the Littleton batsmen with alarming regularity and mopped up the tail to return man-of-the-match winning figures of 8-2-24-7.

In removing the entire team for a mere 42 runs including 5 ducks, Littleton set a new Regional Division 1 North record low total 'besting' the previous effort of 50.
